Day 1: Arrival and Bujumbura City Tour

This 5 days Burundi impressive wildlife Safari starts with arrival at Bujumbura Airport. Upon arrival, our guide warmly welcomes you and transports you to the hotel or volunteer guest house.

Begin your exploration of Bujumbura with a half-day tour, encompassing visits to the cultural and snake museum, the memorial, city hall, Lake Tanganyika, the Islam Culture Centre, and the President’s Office.

You will visit Agasumoka Mwaro waterfalls an ideal place for picnics and beautiful scenic views, the place is where Burundi people go to worship their gods, and we will have lunch at the site as we listen to the traditional history of the waterfalls.

Day 2: Full Day Rusizi National Park

Early morning breakfast and transfer to Rusizi National Park, Burundi’s most visited conservation area, we will spend the whole day in the park doing several activities, boat cruise along river Rusizi after which the conservation area was named is a must-do, game drives in the national park lookout for hippos, crocodiles, numerous birds, after wildlife, we will drive to the fishermen villages along with the Rumonge port, learning a lot about fishing.

We will see lots of hippos, numerous birds and the joint point between Rusizi River and Lake Tanganyika. You will then continue with your trip to the south; driving at the shores of Lake Tanganyika. You will also visit Livingstone memorial. You might relax at the beach, swimming or beach volley at blue bay.

Day 3: Nature Walk & Chimpanzee Tracking at Kibira National Park

Embark on a nature walk in the Kibira Forest National Park, accompanied by a knowledgeable guide. Delve into the lush surroundings and, if time permits, visit the Memorial of the Explorers—a massive rock on the outskirts of Bujumbura commemorating the 1871 conference between Hanington and John Speke, both esteemed explorers.

Day: 4: Gishora Culture Drums & Karera Waterfalls

Today, after your African breakfast, you will be driven to visit the Karera Waterfalls. This spectacular series of waterfalls is located to the south of Rutana in southeastern Burundi. The falls occupy over 142 hectares and comprise 6 branches divided into 3 landings.

This trip will give you an insight into the locals’ day-to-day lives, interacting with the community, visiting different historical sites and connecting with nature. You will see the source of the River Nile, the Karera Waterfall and the Gishora Drum Sanctuary to enjoy a cultural performance by locals.
