Go Volunteer Africa’s Tanzania childcare volunteer work provides to people of all backgrounds and ages an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate orphaned and vulnerable children. Your main role as a volunteer participating in our Tanzania childcare volunteer project is to bring some joy, hope to the lives of orphans and vulnerable children under this program and help local staff with the daily routines.
Volunteers at our childcare volunteer projects in Tanzania are free to tutor the children, organize arts and crafts or sports activities, and help out with basic chores such as feeding the kids, and folding laundry. At the Tanzania childcare volunteer project, participants help with the daily care of the kids, playing with them, showing them attention, even to teach a bit English to the older children.

PROJECT LOCATIONS
You can join our Tanzania childcare volunteer work in Arusha, Moshi or Bukoba and Biharamulo. All project sites offer a very meaningful volunteer experience.
Arusha is a city in north eastern Tanzania and the capital of the Arusha Region, located at the base of volcanic Mt. Meru. It’s a gateway to safari destinations and to Africa’s highest peak, 5,895m Mt. Kilimanjaro, lying some 100 kilometers northeast. To the west lies Serengeti National Park, home to wildlife including lions, rhinoceros, giraffes and leopards.
Moshi is a town in northern Tanzania, near the Kenyan border. It’s known as a gateway to Kilimanjaro National Park, home to Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. Trails run up the mountain’s cloud-ringed, snow-capped dome, through alpine forests and meadows home to elephants and leopards. One of Tanzania’s major coffee-producing hubs, Moshi is known for its coffee farms and auctions.
Bukoba is a city, situated in the north west of Tanzania on the south western shores of Lake Victoria. It is the capital of the Kagera region, and the administrative seat for Bukoba Urban District. The city is served by Bukoba Airport and regular ferry connections to and from Mwanza, as well as roads linking to Uganda’s Rakai District for the cross border car commuters with plans underway for a standard gauge railway construction to fulfil the high ambitions of Uganda.
Biharamulo is a town in northwestern Tanzania. It is the district headquarter of Biharamulo District. Biharamulo used to be a German administrative centre in colonial times. Biharamulo Game Reserve is located north of the town.
The town was the administrative centre of German East Africa during the late 19th century until World War I. Since then it has remained part of the Biharamulo District. Trunk road T4 from Mwanza to Bukoba passes by the town and trunk road T9 to Kigoma Region start in Biharamulo.

ORIENTATION
Orientation and Placement will be done the next day. Generally, your volunteer orientation is an overview of the project’s mission, expectations and introduction to the local community and project site. Following your arrival in Tanzania you will be given a presentation by the co-coordinating project team to prepare you for the work you will be doing.
PROJECT DETAILS
As a participant in our Tanzania childcare volunteer project you will be caring for children and providing a safe and loving atmosphere for them to play and live in. Volunteers in Tanzania might be helping local orphanage staff with cooking, preparing food, dressing children, feeding them and keeping them busy.
Go Volunteer Africa is offering this project in Tanzania and the participants will work with children either at the orphanage home, children’s centre or school for the disadvantaged children supported by Go Volunteer Africa. Orphanage volunteering is one of the most challenging opportunity, yet one of the most rewarding experiences that you’ll ever have.
Make the most of this opportunity by bringing about a positive change in the lives of the disadvantaged children; by providing them the love, care, and affection that they deserve. The opportunity is available throughout the year and you can choose your volunteering duration depending on your convenience.
You will need to have a positive attitude and be able to create a fun environment for the children to live in. You could be just generally assisting with daily tasks, or even coming up with ideas like English lessons, music or leading sports activities. You will be required to be fun, very patience and be able to be creative planning a weekly schedule for the children keeping them busy and occupied.
This is the perfect volunteer program in Tanzania, for anyone who loves children and make a positive impact in their lives. Most of the kids at this orphanage and children’s centre are in the age group of 3 – 16 years, and they belong to a very compromised background, such that they often don’t get the basic requirements as well. This project will not only give you an opportunity of working with children, but it’ll also get you closer to the Tanzanian culture and lifestyle. You’ll be interacting with the local staff at the centers, and look deeper into the problems that persist in the developing society.
Some of the children and locals might not speak English but you will be able to help them and you might even pick up some of the local language- Swahili. There will also be lots of free time to relax and enjoy some of the culture and cuisine, Tanzania is full of things to do and places to visit.

VOLUNTEER ACCOMMODATION
Volunteers are provided accommodation in a volunteer house or in a homestay accommodation managed by the local coordinating team. Three meals a day (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) are provided to the participants from Monday – Sunday. The accommodations are neat and clean. Accommodation is shared amongst volunteers on the ‘same gender sharing’ basis rooms. Wifi internet, warm water is not guaranteed.
The homes are close to useful amenities like banks, ATM’s, currency exchanges, restaurants, cafes and shopping places. All placements are around 10 – 30 minutes from the accommodation. At some point volunteers might be on the move and hence we suggest also bringing a sleeping mat and sleeping bag/pillow for travel and weekends away on adventures. Bathrooms are usually shared. There is a lounge area for relaxing, reading, or watching movies.
AGE REQUIREMENT
Our program is for anyone eighteen years and above who loves service above self and social experiences with people from all over the world. We also accepts volunteers of 16+ years of age if they are in a group with a guardian or supervisor above 25years. Volunteers under 16 years old are only considered when accompanied by a parent/guardian. There isn’t a maximum age limit, though a reasonable fitness level is necessary. Families are encouraged to apply and are welcome!
VISAS
Visitors to Tanzania must obtain a visa from one of the Tanzanian diplomatic missions or online unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries or countries whose citizens can obtain a visa on arrival. All other nationalities, that are not visa exempt may obtain a visa on arrival. Visa must be paid with notes of USD 50 or USD 100. The length of stay is determined at ports of entry.
