Detailed 4 Days Burundi Cultural Experience

DAY 1:  Arrival at Bujumbura & Tour

Upon arrival at the Bujumbura International Airport, you’ll be welcomed by a representative of GVA Tours & Travel Safaris and driven to your hotel.  After some relaxation, you’ll begin your cultural exploration of Bujumbura, the capital city of Burundi.

 

You’ll visit the Livingstone-Stanley Monument, which marks the spot where the famous explorers met in 1871, and the Snake and Culture Museum, which showcases the traditional dances and music of Burundi.

DAY 2: Rusizi national park –Gishora drum sanctuary

Rusizi National Park is a national park in Burundi, next to the Rusizi River. It is 15 km north of the city of Bujumbura and home to hippopotamuses and sitatungas. Gustave, a Nile crocodile, is rumored to have killed 300 people here.

Rusizi National Park offers a unique and tranquil escape into Burundi’s natural beauty, with its serene wetlands, rich biodiversity, and cultural significance.  In the afternoon you’ll drive to Gitega, the cultural capital of Burundi, and visit the National Museum of Gitega, which displays the history and culture of Burundi. You’ll also visit the Gishora Drum Sanctuary, where you’ll learn about the traditional drumming and dance of Burundi.

DAY 3: Explore the Scenic Beauty of Lake Tanganyika

You’ll spend the day exploring the scenic beauty of Lake Tanganyika, one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world. You’ll take a boat ride to explore the nearby islands and visit the fishermen villages. You’ll also have an opportunity to swim in the crystal-clear waters of the lake and relax on the beaches.

DAY 4: Departure
