We have put together this trip for you to explore Kenya’s wildlife extravaganza coupled with its hospitable people and freshening ambiance away from the big cities making it the ultimate adventure trip. Masai Mara is situated in south-west Kenya and is one of Africa Greatest Wildlife Reserves.
Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania it forms Africa most diverse, incredible and most spectacular Eco-systems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing Eco-system. We are sure you have heard the wildebeest migration is nothing short of amazing. It is one of the things you have to add to your bucket list.
Please note: This trip was designed for the participants volunteering with us in Nairobi, however we can customize it for our volunteers in Mombasa, Eldoret and Kakamega among other locations in Kenya.
DAY 1-10: VOLUNTEERING IN NAIROBI
Day 1: Our Coordinator will arrange a pickup for you from the airport at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi at agreed time and they will drive you to the volunteer house. Orientation and Placement will be done the next day. On the second day, our Coordinator will give an orientation about the project you will be working on. During the orientation you can choose from our diverse assortment of health, environment and socio-economic projects.
Day 3 – 10: You can use your talents and skills to enhance the lives of orphans, under privileged women and youth while learning about the culture and customs of the local Kenyan people. You will surely be assisting with on-going programs in need of a helping hand. You can spend the first day helping to paint the classroom blocks, work with teachers, prepare meals for orphans, plant trees, train dance, musical instruments, and work with clinical officers or participate in the youth empowerment projects.
DAY 11: NAIROBI CITY TOUR
Day 11: Nairobi is the world famous safari capital of East Africa. It is a city filled with attractions from museums, art galleries, national parks to cultural and historical sites. This Kenya Safari Volunteering will offer you a life time opportunity to fully explore Nairobi on a one day trip offering you the opportunity to see the City and discover Nairobi’s beauty and history.
DAY 12: NAIROBI – MASAI MARA SAFARI
Our guide will pick you up from our volunteer house as early as 07:30am after an early breakfast, there after proceed to our departure point which is in the city center for final review of the program as you join the other travelers if it’s a joining safari.
At this point you will have an opportunity to visit the Super Market just in case you needed to make the last minute shopping. There after depart Nairobi and proceed to the Great Rift Valley View point which will be your first stop over, after few minutes of photography embark again in the safari vehicles and go down the rift valley and in the next 2 hours to arrive in Narok for lunch.
After lunch and stretching your feet you will proceed again for another 2 hours on a bumpy road which leads you now to the famous 7th wonder of the world home of millions of wildebeest and all other Big 5 commonly known the Masai Mara World leading Tourist attraction. On arrival you will be received by Staff in the camp as you proceed to the check in.
After checking in your rooms you will proceed for the late afternoon game drive for about 2hours game viewing which will unfold to you the beauty of the African Sunset. Return to the Camp for dinner and overnight.
DAY13: MASAI MARA FULL DAY GAME SAFARI
This will be the full day to explore the Masai Mara, breakfast will be served as early as 07:30am, then the camp cook will pack for you fresh picnic lunch since the whole day will be exploring the Masai Mara famous 7th wonders of the World. This game reserve is Kenya’s finest wildlife sanctuary. Including migrants, well over 450 species of animals have been recorded here.
Mara plains are filled with migrating wildebeest and zebra, there is also resident wildlife year round. The Mara’s gentle fertile climate bounded by The Rift, offers perhaps the richest stocked reserve set within some 1672 sq km – an unlimited spectacle of wildlife. Located 268 km west of Nairobi, the emphasis here is on game.
Herds of immense Elephants, browse among Lion, Buffalo, Thompson Gazelle, Zebra and Topi. You may occasionally sight black Rhino. In the Mara River Hippos play and Cross bask on the banks. The annual migration of a million Wildebeest follows the rains north. After exploring the park return to the camp for dinner and overnight.
DAY 14: MASAI MARA MORNING GAME VIEWING – NAIROBI
Wake up call at 06:00am, have a cup of hot coffee or African tea, proceed for early morning game drive, the early morning Game safari offers you golden opportunity for early morning big 5 kills, African Jungle Male Lions are spotted along the trails as well as other Kenya big 5 including the documented the Big Cat Documentary, Lion, Leopard & Black Rhinos if lucky.
The Kenya Trails Game viewing takes about 2-3 hours then return to the Camp for full breakfast. After the breakfast check out and for those who will be willing to visit the famous Masai Village our driver will organize for you. You will be entertained with Masai Moran dance as well as the visit of the Manyatta.
Inside the Manyatta take as many photos as you can as a memory of Africa Cultural visit. There after proceed back to Nairobi with a stopover in Narok Town for Hot Lunch as you leave for Nairobi arriving early afternoon where you will be dropped the volunteer house.
DAY 15: END OF KENYA SAFARI VOLUNTEERING TRIP/ DEPARTURE
The trip ends on the 15th day and participants will be dropped back to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
