Our summer volunteer projects in Uganda are designed as an immersion program customized for individual travelers, students, professionals, families, groups, or anyone with the desire to serve and explore in Uganda.

The time you spend volunteering, your destination, and the projects in which you will be involved are all geared to your skills and interests, and the community’s needs. The work is a tool and method to promote inter-cultural understanding and friendship between the volunteers and with the local community.

Teach English in Rural Schools

Many villages in Uganda are in need of native English speakers to come teach English, and in return you’ll get an experience like no other. Living in a rural village will immerse you in traditional Ugandan life and culture, an experience completely different from the normal tourist trip. It’s such a unique chance to connect with children and members of the local community. Some programs also have you help build schools in rural villages.

Volunteer with Children

There are lots of orphanages and children’s homes in Uganda looking for people who love kids to come and help out. There are opportunities everywhere from out in rural villages, to children’s homes in cities like Kampala and Jinja if that’s what you’d like. Availability: Summer holiday
Duration: Minimum 1 week commitment
Age Limits: Minimum 18yrs or older for solo travelers.
Minimum Age: Family of any size can participate
Dates: Flexible start and end dates
Arrival dates: One day before the start date
Airport Arrival: Airport pickup, meet and greet by GVA partner representative
Working Days: Monday – Friday – 5 days a week, 3-5 hours in a day
Weekends: Travel / Sightseeing NOT included in program cost
Accommodation: Host Families or volunteer house
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner daily
Support: Pre-departure guide, In-country staff available 24/7
