PROJECT DETAILS:

Go Volunteer Africa enables people from around the world to share their skills and expertise with needy communities of Uganda. We facilitate volunteer placements for individual solo travelers and groups, for a minimum of one week and we can secure the placement within two days of receiving your inquiry. We offer volunteer programs that will either utilize skills you hold already or give opportunity to learn new skills.

All of our Uganda Community Volunteer Program has been formulated by our team, to give our participants the most meaningful of experiences, wherever they may decide to venture. We take pride in the Uganda Community Volunteer Program and wish to ensure that our volunteers will benefit the community in a favorable way while on their once in a life time journey.

The main objective of the Uganda Community Volunteer Program is to help more people gain the life changing, life affirming experiences that volunteering in Uganda can give. We are committed to enabling skill transfer, enabling projects in Uganda to access different skill sets and to helping volunteers realize the value they can add using the skills they hold.

Our programs allow our volunteers the opportunity to work alongside local and interesting people that help ensure their survival. Working with very willing disadvantaged communities also forms part of the make-up of these incredible life enhancing programs.

One of the best ways to really get under the skin of any destination is to actually cover a large amount of ground during your travels. We will match your skills and expectations with those of your host project to ensure your placement is a professionally, as well as a personally, rewarding experience.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

No particular experience or skills required to get involved in our volunteer work in Uganda. All you need is a desire to make a difference. Volunteers should also be flexible, self-motivated and have a strong willingness to learn and take new initiatives.

GROUP VOLUNTEER TRIPS:

Get some friends together or organize a group from your school and embark on this incredible adventure! Discounts are offered on any group of 5+ participants on Uganda volunteering program.

LONGTERM VOLUNTEER WORK:

Please contact us for more information about our long-term volunteering program in Uganda. We will guide you on the best times of the year, what to pack, and what extra health precautions to keep in mind and all logistics.

VOLUNTEER ACCOMMODATION:

Volunteers are provided accommodation in a volunteer house or in a homestay accommodation managed by the local coordinating team. Three meals a day (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) are provided to the participants from Monday – Friday. The accommodations are neat and clean. Accommodation is shared amongst volunteers on the ‘same gender sharing’ basis rooms. Wifi internet, warm water is not guaranteed.

The homes are close to useful amenities like banks, ATM’s, currency exchanges, restaurants, cafes and shopping places. All placements are around 10 – 30 minutes from the accommodation. At some point volunteers might be on the move and hence we suggest also bringing a sleeping mat and sleeping bag/pillow for travel and weekends away on adventures. Bathrooms are usually shared. There is a lounge area for relaxing, reading, or watching movies.

AGE REQUIREMENT:

Our program is for anyone eighteen years and above who loves children, youth, women and social experiences with people from all over the world. We also accepts volunteers of 16+ years of age if they are in a group with a guardian or supervisor above 25years. Volunteers under 16 years old are only considered when accompanied by a parent/guardian. There isn’t a maximum age limit, though a reasonable fitness level is necessary. Families are encouraged to apply and are welcome!

VISAS:

Visitors to Uganda must obtain a visa on arrival to Uganda or from one of the Ugandan diplomatic missions, unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries. All visitors must hold a passport valid for 6 months. Uganda began issuing electronic visas (e-Visa) on 1 July 2016. Passengers who have been issued an e-visa must travel with a printed e-visa confirmation

Electronic visas are expected to replace the visa on arrival facility. As a temporary measure, passengers who have not applied for an e-visa on line, will still be able to apply for their e-visa on arrival in Uganda. However, facilities will be very limited and passengers may experience delays. The 90-day East African Tourist Visa is also available on arrival, which is valid for Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda if first used in the country that issued the visa.

INSURANCE:

You’ll need to buy appropriate travel insurance covering your participation on the program. You won’t be able to go without the right travel insurance so double check to avoid disappointment. Please make sure that you’re covered for the whole duration of your trip – from the day you leave your home to the day you return.

WEEKENDS AND FREE-TIME:

Over the weekends or evenings, participants are free to eat out and explore the different delights that Uganda has to offer. We arrange city day tours and long-weekend safaris. No matter what your interests, there is always something for everyone to enjoy!
