WHAT OUR FORMER VOLUNTEERS SAY?
"I worked in Australia with a conservation partner of GVA in Brisbane, activities included planting trees, carrying out environmental surveys, and collecting tonnes of native seeds. I enjoyed my time volunteering with them and the payment was really great. Brisbane is a nice city and I loved everything about the program. The host family was also lovely and I enjoyed learning about their culture." - Anna Njeri, Kenya
"After getting out of work last year, I was looking for something to do, I was desperate, until when someone recommended GVA. At first I was scared, but I prayed to God and borrowed registration fee from family and gave it a try. I never regretted for the decision I made. I volunteered at a wild animal sanctuary and project staff and volunteers were very positive and welcoming. The project itself was great I learnt a lot about wildlife and was able to save enough money to start my small business back home. Volunteering in Australia was very memorable and one of the best things i ever did in my life. I leave with great memories, thank you GVA for giving Africans such an opportunity." - Denison Acka, Ghana
"I absolutely loved my time in Germany with GVA. I am a 34 years old medical officer back here in Zambia and this was a very valuable experience for me to be directly involved with patients and learning much about healthcare system in a developed country. I loved the staff and the host family I was staying with and the range of home duties we did together, I miss the experience" - Kamuga Peter, Zambia
“I really could have not asked for a better experience. The center in Herskind was provided a good and challenging experience. Every person I met was friendly to me, which fueled me to give my best effort in my project. I could tell that the workers and residents really appreciated my work. They answered all my questions. They appreciated that I was trying my level best to learn Danish. They could tell I was really loved my work. I am still in contact with a couple of the workers! I cannot express how grateful I am for this experience and finding GVA. When I came back to Uganda, I really missed my time in Denmark, I wish I could do it again.” – Kasagga Peter, Uganda
“My time in Sweden was an amazing and unforgettable experience. I stayed in Stockholm and interned/volunteered for the Green-living project through GVA. Sweden overall is a great country to travel to; its beauty is stunning, there is plenty to do in your free time, and I felt very safe the whole time. I stayed with a host family, which was such a great experience. My host mom, "Na" as we called her, was such a sweet spirit who did everything she could to make the people living in her household feel comfortable and at home. I think my favorite part of the whole experience was the connections I made while I was there. I made several lasting friendships, and I even have plans for going back to study! Overall this was an incredible experience of a lifetime.” – Zaharay Mohamoud, Egypt
