Solo Travel Volunteering Projects

Don’t have a travel partner? No problem! Traveling solo can be lonely and daunting… But it can also be a rewarding experience of a lifetime if you do it right! The majority of Go Volunteer Africa’s volunteers travel solo as volunteering with us is a safe and easy way to travel to Africa, to give back to communities, and to make friends for life. As they say, you may travel alone, but you are never actually alone.

Go Volunteer Africa’ Solo travel volunteering projects offers a unique way to spend time with the locals or other solo travelers in your group, while helping a community in need. As a solo traveler interested in giving back on your travels, you’re in a unique position because you can truly lead by your own interests and find a volunteer experience that fits exactly with how you want to spend your trip.

Stay from one week to over 6 months. The solo travel volunteering projects run all year round — and you choose your custom dates. These trips are not just for younger travelers! Middle-aged and senior volunteers have regularly joined our programs since 2010 and in fact solo volunteering projects are our most popular packages.

Solo travel volunteering projects participants still get many of our normal services like trip planning, airport transfers, volunteer placement, accommodations, orientation on arrival, and a 24-hour on-site Country Coordinator.

The biggest differences between our group trips and solo trips? As a solo traveling volunteer:

  • You must be age 18+ on start date
  • You book choose your arrival and end date
  • You pay separately for excursions and cultural activities
  • Weekends and evenings are free time
  • You are responsible for the daily commute to volunteer placement

Excursions:

On weekends you are free to explore even more of the local culture.

Trip Planning:

We are there every step of the way to help you plan your volunteer trip to Africa. We will guide you on passports, flights, vaccinations, visas, insurance, fundraising, packing list, money matters, cell phones, Internet, cultural etiquette, and after the trip.

Flights:

You book your own flights. We shall always meet you at the airport at local International Airport.
