If you’re looking for a rewarding orphanage or teaching volunteer work experience, look no further than Go Volunteer Africa. We are currently (and always) accepting volunteers to join our orphanage and teaching volunteer work in Burkina Faso program. Your volunteer work at the children’s centre will provide these orphaned and vulnerable children with the attention and mental stimulation that all children need to develop healthy social skills and self-confidence.
Your volunteer work in Burkina Faso will make a large impact on both you and the orphans themselves. We recommend coming for four weeks or more if you are to make a great impact on the lives of these children.
Orphanage and teaching volunteer work in Burkina Faso with Go Volunteer Africa gives you a rewarding travel experience that feeds your soul by knowing the Burkinabe cultures and different ways of life across Burkina Faso while giving a helping hand to communities and individuals in need.

- Prepare food for dinner
The children who spend time and have their schooling at Children’s Centre are in need of love, care and affection which local staff is often too busy to offer them on an individual basis. There is a possibility for our volunteers to work in every and any aspect of the children’s centre; whether it is teaching the children and helping them with their homework, playing a game of tag or by simply sharing your time, experiences and knowledge with them you are making a difference in their lives.
The voracious need these orphans have to seek and learn about any subject matter – sports, music, or farming – is both awe-inspiring and humbling. Volunteering in Burkina Faso will give you an intimate insight into a new and exciting world. A world where childcare is a privilege and a gift, where orphans who have nothing will share whatever they can with a complete stranger, and where you can change the lives of people and children just by being yourself.
Volunteers at our orphanage in Burkina Faso are free to tutor the children, organize arts and crafts or sports activities, and help out with basic chores such as feeding the kids, and folding laundry. At the orphanage, volunteers help with the daily care of the kids, playing with them, showing them attention or teach English/ French to the older children.
Any volunteer interested in the orphanage and teaching volunteer project in Burkina Faso will be required to provide a CRB check to participate. This is a life-changing volunteering experience to anyone who would like to spend their summer, career break, gap year or volunteer holiday working at an orphanage or children’s home.
Make the most of this opportunity by bringing about a positive change in the lives of the disadvantaged children; by providing them the love, care, and affection that they deserve. The opportunity is available throughout the year and you can choose your volunteering duration depending on your convenience. The minimum duration to volunteer is 4 weeks as we try to be ethical and avoid “orphanage tourists”.
You will need to have a positive attitude and be able to create a fun environment for the children to live in. You could be just generally assisting with daily tasks, or even coming up with ideas like English/French lessons, music or leading sports activities. You will be required to be fun, very patience and be able to be creative planning a weekly schedule for the children keeping them busy and occupied.
This is the perfect volunteer project in Burkina Faso, for anyone who loves children and make a positive impact in their lives. Most of the kids at this orphanage and children’s centre are in the age group of 3 – 16 years, and they belong to a very compromised background, such that they often don’t get the basic requirements as well.
This volunteer project in Burkina Faso will not only give you an opportunity of working with children, but it’ll also get you closer to the Burkinabe culture and lifestyle. You’ll be interacting with the local staff at the center, and look deeper into the problems that persist in the developing society.
Some of the children and locals might not speak French or English but you will be able to help them and you might even pick up some of the local language. French is the official language. (Outside the big cities, most people are not so fluent in French as the city-dwellers.) Our Coordinator speak English though. There will also be lots of free time to relax and enjoy some of the culture and cuisine, Nairobi city is full of things to do and places to visit.
On the weekends you are encouraged to explore the country with friends you make on the program, and our representatives are available to give travel advice and make bookings for you.
