The Pearl of Africa!
Uganda, commonly known as the Pearl of Africa, officially the Republic of Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa. It is bordered to the east by Kenya, to the north by South Sudan, to the west by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the south-west by Rwanda, and to the south by Tanzania. The southern part of the country includes a substantial portion of Lake Victoria, shared with Kenya and Tanzania.
About 38m people, call Uganda home. It is a country with wonderful natural scenery and very friendly people, and as most safaris tour the country by road, you are able to really take in the atmosphere and beauty of this land.
Located on the western side of the Great Rift Valley – Uganda benefits from Flora and Fauna species of both East and West Africa, in addition to having a wide variety of indigenous species. The mountain ranges of the Rwenzoris and Virungas , the ancient and extinct Mount Elgon volcano, the many lakes and rivers including Lake Victoria – the largest lake in Africa, and the legendary source of the River Nile.
Uganda has a lot to offer from its numerous and diverse cultures, thriving and abundant wildlife, to the tallest Mountain Range in Africa, the largest Lake in Africa, extinct and dormant volcanoes and Welcoming People in all our destination!
TOURISM IN UGANDA
The highlight of embarking on a Uganda adventure is usually seeing the incredible mountain gorillas, either in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or in Mgahinga National Park on the northern slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes. However, Uganda offers a huge amount more.
Uganda is also an incredible birding destination, with well over 1000 species found, including the rare shoebill and many Albertine Rift endemics. Uganda offers the traveler a great safari attraction. It is also a country of great diversity with much more to offer than only splendid wildlife.
Did you know that Uganda is famous for pineapples, avocados, bananas and mangoes? Or that peanuts are called ground nuts? For anyone interested to explore further afield in Uganda, there is plenty to experience.
