Join us on one of our women’s empowerment projects in Rwanda and you can work with local staff to help support these women and girls as they strive to find better futures.
Volunteers are encouraged to share their existing knowledge and skills with the women on the project. Volunteers can lead workshops in business skills, IT, administration, financial literacy, people management and customer care. You can offer counseling, information on reproductive health or help with the harvest of cash crops or you can just join the girls in their sports activities.
You will be involved in a variety of interesting activities to help the women and girls in the community. If you have areas of specialty, you may be asked to run focused sessions during your time at the project site.
You will find the experience extremely rewarding as you build trust and spend time sharing your own experiences with the women and girls, and listening to their own stories.
You don’t need specific experience working with women’s groups but if you have training, teaching, counseling or business skills they will be most useful. A willingness to help where needed, a genuine interest in supporting women in need and being sensitive are some of the attributes you should have as a women’s empowerment volunteer.
Volunteering on Women’s Empowerment initiatives is a great way to see the world, experience new cultures and contribute to a sustainable project, which will yield long-term results for the individual and the community as a whole.
