We understand the first question you will ask yourself- Is it safe to travel to Chad? – the simple answer is Yes. Chad is not known as a touristy destination, in fact, Chad is not known for anything to do with travel. However Chad is that place where travelers wave goodbye to their comfort zone and say hello to adventure. Picture sublime oases hiding in the northern deserts, stampeding herds of wildlife running through national parks and deep blues awaiting boats on Lake Chad – put simply, Chad is a country and an experience that can never be forgotten.

Chad volunteer tours, run by Go Volunteer Africa is an opportunity of a lifetime to visit, explore and volunteer in Chad. Volunteering in Chad is an opportunity to work with grassroots projects in rural, semi-urban and under development communities to empower their sustainable development efforts.

As a volunteer in Chad, you will experience traditional life and participate in daily activities such as wildlife conservation and environment conservation, teaching children in outside classrooms, assisting in the setting up family gardens, youth health talks, as well as healthcare and medical outreach programs and so many other activities.

Chad Volunteer Tours
Chad Volunteer Tours

Chad volunteer tours are one of the most rewarding and exciting experiences that a traveler can have. Chad itself is one of the most diverse places on the African continent, with everything from deserts to ancient cities to immense and uncharted tropical jungles.

As Chad is so vast and varied, it may be hard for you to zero in on exactly where you want to go and what you want to do. Go Volunteer Africa will do two things- give you a basic level of information about volunteering and traveling in Chad and excite you with the knowledge that you are about to serve in a way that is rewarding without bounds for both you and your host community.

There are many ways in which Chad is a unique volunteer travel environment and sadly, it is often overlooked by volunteers deciding to travel to more popular volunteer Africa destinations.

There are niche travel destinations, there are far-out travel destinations, and there are travel destinations which are so beyond the obvious that you have to seek them on a map to check if they really exist. Chad is one of those places, an African country which sits a long way down on the list of African countries you are ever likely to wish to visit. And yet, for the truly intrepid traveler, there is much to enjoy in a place where the beaten path is just an ethereal concept.

ABOUT CHAD

Chad, officially known as the Republic of Chad, is a landlocked country in north-central Africa. It is bordered by Libya to the north, Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south, Cameroon and Nigeria to the southwest, and Niger to the west.

Chad has several regions: a desert zone in the north, an arid Sahelian belt in the centre and a more fertile Sudanian Savanna zone in the south. Lake Chad, after which the country is named, is the largest wetland in Chad and the second-largest in Africa. The capital N'Djamena is the largest city. Chad's official languages are Arabic and French. Chad is home to over 200 different ethnic and linguistic groups. The most popular religion of Chad is Islam (at 55%), followed by Christianity (at 40%).

Chad is an off the beaten path destination with stunning terrain of the Sahara Desert which is some of the most oddly beautiful in the world. Chad is a central African nation that has been ravaged by war and poverty. Due to these two issues, the country’s population struggles with defaced and damaged public facilities and food crisis. Many organizations like Go Volunteer Africa have set up in the country to help alleviate the suffering and your contribution as a volunteer could be invaluable to their recovery and livelihood.

Go Volunteer Africa recruits and sends volunteers into Chad. The volunteers typically are involved in activities such as community education, environment conservation and health care. Due to civil conflict within Chad, much of the country’s wildlife was killed and currently efforts are being made to replenish game parks. To achieve this Go Volunteer Africa recruits volunteers to help with the conservation work in the country. Volunteers in conservation can work in wildlife reserves such as Zakouma national park and contribute to restoration of a number of species and activities such as tree planting.
